Hi,
Just a suggestion, but I have gotten around the problem of deploying via FTP to a remote app server using a product called WebDrive (on Windows). It allows you to access an FTP or SFTP server as a mapped local drive. It costs $50 and has a free 30 day evaluation.
So I just configure the deployment to be for an externally launched server, and give J:\server\default\deploy for the deployment path (the J: is for JBoss). Works like a charm, and solves the problem of deploying to a hosted server (i.e., one I don’t control and on which I can’t configure VPN + NetBIOS or Samba to create a share.
I think there is something similar called FTPFS or SSHFS in Linux, but I haven’t used it.
Incidentally, I am neither employed by nor associated in any way with WebDrive.
