Hello.
Iìm evaluating myeclipse 9,0 for spring.
I’m interested to test the spring scaffolding.
I’ve a postresql 9.0 db, tables and relation among them.
I’m testing the “Scaffold Spring CRUD Application” feature.
Flex project has been selected.
Running it I get the message “Generation job failed. See error log”.
I get this problem both with XP and win7 environment.

I didn’t get any problem during myecplise installation and I’m sure postgres is working well.
Could you help me?

Hi pbesi,

Here’s few suggestions, you might try if you have not already.

1. Try scaffolding just as you already have, but use one of the tables in the derby sandbox database. See the Spring Flex Scaffolding Tutorial http://www.myeclipseide.com/documentation/quickstarts/ME4STutorialScaffoldingFlex/scaffoldingflexarticle.html

If that works as expected then you have better isolated the problem.

2. I have found that drivers for external databases must manually added to the class path. I do these steps.

a) Copy your db driver the WEB-INF/lib directory. Even though you have a connection in the DB Browser view.

b) Refresh your project – Right-click the project name in the Project Explorer and select Refresh. There is no need to run the scaffolding wizard again.

c) Restart the server.

3. If you are still having problems,
a) Work up to the point right before the problem becomes evident.
b) Clear your console and error logs
c) Then trigger the failure.

I find that this helps me to focus on the actual problem.

You’re right!, using Derby DB, everything runs well.
I also tryed with postgres and a simple db made of few tables without any relation. Scaffolding runs good again.
The problem arises when you have a complex db, for example several tables with several relations one-to-many, many-to-many, etc. In this case (not clear exaclty when it happens because some tables relations are correctly managed) myecplise scaffolding fails.
This problem happens with postgres, because the same DB (same tables and relations among them) runs well with mysql.
Mmmhhh. I’m not very happy of that, this is the main feature that I’m interested to.

Looks like you’ve uncovered a bug.

All I can recommend at this point is to post a DDL dump, or other backup of the simplest postgress database that triggers the scaffold failure.

So one of the MyEclipse for Spring guys can take a look at it.

We do support postgres, but there may be some issue with the driver reporting the correct metadata for your schema etc.

From the error message you posted it looks like the scaffolding generator is failing in an area related to the foreign key (fk_tblpersona).

The code that is running at this point is actually the Hibernate reverse engineering code and so it generally handles a wide range of cases.

Lets take a look at the schema to see if we can find the problem, if you send it along I would be happy too.
