I just read that you plan to support German language

This I think is a complete waste of time — I think every german programmer is able to handle the english GUI otherwise he couldn’t be a programmer
also german is not a good language for user interfaces as the words are much longer than their english translations.

From my point of view first thing to do is to provide more documentation and examples for starting projects with different frameworks.

    You’re doing a great job — Thanks

That’s a very good point and we’re releasing a series of tutorials that do exactly that. In fact, there’s a new one on Spring that we just mentioned in the MyEclipse Blog here. All the new tutorials will have a yellow star by them on the Documentation Page.

As far as support for German, you’ve made an interesting point. We know that some regions have very strong localization requirements (like Japan) and others do not (like Germany apparently). For other developers in other regions, what do you think the localization requirements are in your area? Does the product being localized in your native language matter?

When deciding about localisation of former Eclipse versions I choosed the English version. Think about the mixture of different plugins – not all are translated. And you’ll get a mixture of German/English UI …

Most of the java documentation (especially the JavaDocs) are in English. So I (and other collegues I talked about that) meant that English UI is ok.

On the other hand: I prefer a German documentation over an English one – if present.

I can certainly see how the “mixed language” UI would be a problem. Good feedback! Thanks.
